Back & Neck decompression therapy

Perhaps you’ve had pain in your low back or neck that is preventing you from staying active, playing with your grandchildren or shoveling your driveway. You’ve tried medication, as well as other traditional methods and you are frustrated with your level of improvement.

We understand are concerned it will get worse, become permanent or that you may need surgery, but there is hope! However, there is hope. Our approach addresses the potential pain generators for your condition which can include a bulging or herniated or degenerated disc, an imbalance in the muscles supporting the spine and inflammation.

Damage to the discs includes tears in the outer layer (annular tears) and bulging or herniation causing nerve irritation and may lead to stenosis and degeneration. Decompression is used to gently stretch joints, muscles, discs and relieve nerve pressure. Compressed spinal discs do not get oxygen and fresh blood consistently. Decompression and motion can enhance healing by restoring the needed nutrients back into the discs. Therapy consists of phases of “distraction” and “relaxation” which creates a vacuum and a rest period within the disc. The vacuum effect does two things. First, it helps the bulging disc return to its proper position. Second, the vacuum effect brings in a fresh blood supply which helps to promote healing. This treatment is gentle and effective, and can help you get back to the activities your back and/or neck have been keeping you from.

Know more about our therapy

How long does each treatment take?

Approximately 8 – 12 minutes

What will I feel?

In most cases you will feel a gentle pull on the particular area of your spine that is being treated. In some cases in the initial phase of care you may feel some stiffness immediately after care that dissipates once you are up and walking.

How does it work?

A gentle traction force is applied to the problem area. The traction force helps to restore fluid and nutrients to your disc(s), and gradually restore your disc to its proper position. This helps relieve the cause of pain.

Am I a Candidate?

After an exam by our doctor, you will undergo a ”suitability test treatment”. If you are deemed suitable for therapy, you will be given a treatment program designed for you.
